Last November Clint and I both turned the BIG 4-0!
And since every big birthday needs a big celebration, we flew deep into the Heart of Texas for a weekend get-away.
(Can I just say how nice it is to have older children? You don't have to find a babysitter, and you can just leave whenever you want to.)
We flew into Austen because it's right in the middle of all the places we wanted to visit.
Waco was first up on our list. Having a little bit of a fixation with the show Fixer Upper, we set off to see all things Magnolia.
We chose to take the back highways instead of driving the Interstate. There's much more to see and you get to experience all the little towns. One of the towns even named a road after me.
Some of the highlights of Waco included:
The Magnolia House B&B in McGregor TX
Harp Design Co.
If you look closely you can see a Fixer Upper house behind us.
The original Magnolia store
and the Silos.
It was all fun to see, but definitely not what I expected.
It's very much a tourism venue - tons of people and long lines -kind of like Disneyland.
We didn't make it to the Bakery. The line was wrapped around the corner and all the way down the block.
It was fun to see, but we decided if we ever go back, we'll skip the Fixer Upper places and visit all the cute little antique shops instead.
